Method 1. Search for Word Backup Files

Step 2: Type “.wbk” in the search box.

Method 2. Search for AutoRecover Word Document Files

AutoRecover is a feature of Microsoft Word that creates a backup of your unsaved Word file, automatically. Although the system is not very effective, it comes in handy in emergencies.
So, you can recover deleted Word document via this method but the backup file may not as up to date as the original Word document. Let’s look at the steps:

Step 1: First, you have to open the “File Menu” and click on “info”.

Step 2: After that, look for the option called “Manage Versions”, click on it. Now, you will come across the “Recover Unsaved Documents” option, click on it.

Step 3: A new location will be opened where you will find a draft of your desired Word document.

Step 4: Now, in order to recover that draft, click on “Save As” option and it will be restored.

This may not be the most effective way to recover the Word file but this is a method implemented by the developer for the users to recover an unsaved document. You may not be able to recover the document in pristine condition but most of it will be available to you after recovery.

Method 3. Recover Unsaved Word Document from Temporary Files

There is a possibility that you may find the Word document you are looking for inside the temporary folder. So, you need to look for the document inside that folder; here’s how to do it:

Step 1: Go to “My Computer” and hit “F10” on your keyboard. After pressing F10, all the hidden files will be visible to you. Now, exit.

Step 2: go to “Windows Search” and type “.tmp” files.

You possibly have to go through a number of files before you find your desired file.

Method 4. Get your Deleted Word Document from Recycle Bin

It is possible that the Word document deleted by you is still sitting inside the Recycle Bin. On Windows computers, if you hit “Delete” the files go directly into recycle bin. Unless you empty the Recycle Bin, the file will sit there for a long time.
